NAMA stands for: National Asset Management Agency, it has been set up by the government to manage bad debts of Irish banks with government bonds and not cash. It's a very complicated way of getting the banks out of trouble that they shouldn't be in. The banks gave away money far to easily in the past and not they are being bailed out. This is probably a sign that they will not even change their ways in the future if every time they mess up they know they will be bailed out.

m-Commerce was born in 1997 when a vending machine customer used their mobile phone to pay for a Coca Cola product. m-commerce deals with mobile business and using personal devices such as your phone or PDA for making purchases of products and services.



m-Commerce is another area of doing business which is becoming more popular and used by more people. For example, it allows for greater management of stock control and can create better relations with customers through great knowledge of thier purchase trends.

I feel religion is now just as important as ever. However everything else has evolved over time but religion hasn't. Maybe the catholic church for one needs a reform. Religion does not play a big a part in society as it used too but perhaps this is a sign that change is needed!? I think the catholic church should base itself on a system like they have for protestants. Victors seem to have a nice relaxing life, at least it seems that way on Emerdale. Poor old Ashley has 2 women fighting over him. And lets face it, Terry's orange chocolate bars could do with the extra publicity over here. I could base my thesis on reform in the Irish catholic church and sync it with the re-branding of Terrys chocolate orange bars in Ireland, what do you think colin?

Some argue that the online adult industry were the pioneers of the Internet as we know it today. Others say it was the army but I would agree that the adult industry brought all the commercials sides of the web to the fore and also the the now common aspects of the Internet today such as - pop ups, spam, videos and the starting up of sites such as YouTube and vimeo.

Its my opinion that the Internet would not be where it is today without the exploration and attempts of the adult industry to explore this new medium for making sales in the early years of the Internet.

The big thing on the Internet at the minute is social networking. For me it began with myspace.com in 2002 or 2003 when not that many of my friends used it or any other sites at the time. It was not that popular in Ireland until about 3 years ago when bebo.com became the place to communicate online. Now facebook.com is massive and everyone uses it. It has almost replaced even msn messenger for keeping in touch with people online. I find social networks site really useful for keeping in touch with many of my friends and family across the world!

I showed my lecturer my brother Darraghs website that I'm using google analytics on to try and grow the site. driftireland.com has many users and can be found via search engines already but we want to make it more findable to drifting fans around the world and especially in Ireland. The site has grown 12.6% since I set up the analytics account.

We have studied a chapter on Search Engine Optimization which is good for getting our website to the top of searches done by internet users. There is great competetion to be number one on the top of google searches. It is hard to be number one on all search engines but in particular on google.com as google change their criteria in order to bring the best content to their users at a time. Once you get to the top it does not mean you will be there tomorrow for the same search, this is why google is probably the best search engine there is. It brings the best content for the searcher to the top of the list.

This is my thrid week now studying this module of e-business with lecturer Colin Cooney. The course is very interesting and will stand to us all when we come to looking for jobs in the future!! We are learnning about how to have our websites appearing higer up in a google search.

Today is Aurthur Guinness day, the patron saint of Ireland. The day is being celebrated all over the world and I'm looking forward to getting involved with free pints of Guinness form Emlyn in the bar later!!

Here in cr2 now writing up my first blog. Really didn't ever want to have a twitter account but we have had too! Cannot wait for the weekend when I leave for Sheffield on Saturday. Roll on the session!
